He may be out patrolling, but it’s not for illegal immigrants.
The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office in Florida recently put out a warning to the community, asking them to be on the lookout for…a Booty Patrol truck.
Slow season for the police down in the Sunshine State, eh?
In their original post on the vehicle, the sheriff’s department asked citizens to keep an eye out for the pickup truck painted to look like a border patrol vehicle – with one big difference:
“The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office is reaching out to raise awareness about a vehicle equipped with red and blue lights that has been impersonating law enforcement, and it’s not just happening here in DeSoto County, but in several other counties across Florida as well.”
What the sheriff’s office doesn’t mention is that this truck, which contains the green stripe down the side like the Border Patrol trucks, actually says “Booty Patrol,” with a logo on the door that reads “National Booty Behavior Protection.”
Well it didn’t take long for them to find the captain of the Booty Patrol: Gabriel Luviano commented on the post and took ownership of the “impersonating” vehicle, defending himself and his truck and denying that he had ever turned his lights on while driving or to pull anybody over.
But apparently the sheriff’s office wasn’t willing to run the risk that somebody might mistake Luviano and his truck for the real Booty Patrol, and gave him a ticket for having prohibited lights on his vehicle.
“On Sunday, October 29, 2023, the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office successfully located both the vehicle and the driver involved in the recent incident of a vehicle impersonating law enforcement. Our law enforcement deputies conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, and deputies issued a citation for violating FSS 316.2397, which pertains to Certain Lights Prohibited.
We want to emphasize that DCSO located the vehicle on Sunday, and our initial post aimed to raise awareness about this incident, ensuring that the public can avoid being duped by such individuals. We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who called in with information about the suspicious vehicle, as your continued support is crucial in helping us maintain a safe and secure community for our residents.”
For his part, the Florida Man claims that the vehicle is a show truck, and the only time he’s ever activated the lights was while at a truck show or on private property. And others in the comments were quick to defend him too, pointing out the ridiculousness of anybody who believed that a truck labeled “Booty Patrol” could possibly be an actual law enforcement officer.
Many even said they’ve seen the truck around town themselves, and always got a kick out of it.
Luviano says that the truck is just for fun, and despite the $113 fine that he was issued, he has no plans of changing it.
Because if there’s one thing we know about the Booty Patrol, it’s that they’re always on the job.
