When you want to be on top of the latest nail trends, we turn to celebrity nail artists. And Zola Ganzorigt, nail artist to stars like Hailey Bieber and Sydney Sweeney, just gave us our next mani of the season! Introducing glazed taro nails, the spring shade that catches sunlight and still feels as cozy as your favorite bubble tea. Dive into this taro treat and find our favorite polishes to get the look!
What are glazed taro nails?
Created by Hailey Bieber’s nail artist, Zola G, the glazed taro nails look actually combines a few OPI gel shades. Once she has her ideal taro shade, Zola turns to the Tin Man Can chrome powder (a salon-only product) to achieve that mirror finish.
Glazed taro nails land between lilac and lavender with undertones of pink with a shiny chrome finish. The final look is a spring-themed mani that’s understated while still standing out. Elegant and clean, this mani is a must-have for anyone ready to bloom into a season of gorgeous nails.
What exactly is taro?
Taro is a root vegetable popular in Africa, Southeast Asia and Oceanic cultures. The edible part of the plant, the corm, has a light purple color similar to ube or purple yams but is not as pigmented. Used in desserts and milk teas, taro has a mild sweet flavor that combines earthiness with subtle vanilla and coconut notes.
Essentially, the nail shade we’re going for is a taro milk tea, a light purple with pinkish undertones.
The Polishes That Nail the Glazed Taro Shade
Super light, nearly sheer and just a touch of purple give you the perfect recipe for a taro-inspired nail polish. And since we’re going for glazed taro nails, we’re also prioritizing that can’t-miss gloss of a good chrome finish.
The Glazed Top Coats We Love
Speaking of top coats! If you want your glazed taro nails to be as glossy and shiny as Zola G’s, you need a chrome finish. If you’re not using gels, you can get this look using an effective top coat!
