Fans are euphoric over the return of the ‘murse,’ or man purse.
Australian actor Jacob Elordi, 26, has become a fashion icon – and Gen Z fans are going wild for his envy-inducing collection of designer handbags.
Elordi’s collection includes the extremely on-trend Bottega Venetta cassette bag, a small Celine messenger bag, a Fendi crossbody and many more.
Folks are flocking to social media to praise Elordi’s designer duds and handbag-toting street style, as he continues to make the ‘murse’ into the latest must-have accessory.
Elordi, who is dating influencer Olivia Jade Giannulli, 24, has become known as ‘babygirl‘ on social media for his love of fashion and gentle demeanor.
Urban Dictionary defines the now-viral term as a man who is ‘extremely attractive but in a softer more lighthearted way.’
The Priscilla star, who played Elvis in the movie, opened up to GQ about why he’s always spotted with a handbag.
‘Where I grew up, we had a culture where you wore bum bags, fanny packs,’ Elordi explained.
‘When I leave home, I need to have a certain thing from every category with me in case I get bored – a book, a notepad, rolls of film, a camera, a pen.’
The Saltburn actor also went through his bag’s contents in a GQ video, describing his tote as similar to Hermione’s bag in Harry Potter ‘when she pulls a tent out of it.’
Elordi’s must-have items included a leather folio for scripts, a baseball cap as a quick disguise, cards, a vintage cigarette case, watercolors, multiple books, and a film camera.
The onscreen star revealed he gets all of his handbags for free and admitted, ‘I never bought a bag.’
But the Euphoria actor isn’t the only celebrity who loves a man purse – Harry Styles, ASAP Rocky, Offset, and Jared Leto can all be spotted toting bags of their own.
On X – formerly Twitter – fans have been going wild for Elordi’s bag collection, which includes a particularly playful yellow Louis Vuitton Speedy Monogram.
The LV bag made its debut at Pharrell’s Spring/Summer 2024 show and was then modeled by Rihanna.
One person even has the username ‘Jacob Elordi’s bag collection.’
Another X user joked, ‘Oh to be a designer bag being carried by Jacob Elordi.’
A supporter wrote encouragingly, ‘Jacob Elordi has always been a purse guy and I love that.’
‘Jacob Elordi please hire me as your personal designer bag curator,’ a devoted fan begged.
One summed it up: ‘Let’s be serious: Jacob Elordi looks good with a little purse because he is 6’5″ and gorgeous.’
On Reddit, the response was much the same in a discussion on a page devoted to ‘Jacob Elordi and his handbag collection.’
‘How did I never know he slayed?!’ one Reddit user questioned.
‘I feel dumb saying this but I never noticed how… not-gendered a handbag actually is until this? I don’t know the right words to use.
‘Purses/handbags are pushed on women but they are totally neutral accessories, like a backpack,’ a Reddit user pointed out.
‘I love this. His confidence makes it look so natural. In none of these does it look like he’s just holding a girl’s bag for her. He’s owning it,’ a fashionista proclaimed.
Others dished, ‘I love a tiny bag on a giant man,’ and ‘My female gaze is gazing.’
