Ice Spice’s Butt-Baring Betty Boop Costume Causes A Stir Online

Ice Spice paid homage to a legendary cartoon character this weekend when she dressed as Betty Boop in the spirit of Halloween.

The “In Ha Mood” artist sported a red dress and had her hair in a black “bob,” per her Instagram post. She even took the festive look to centerstage when she performed at Power 105.1’s Powerhouse show on Saturday (Oct. 28) in Newark, NJ.

Spice performed her summer hit “Deli,” which was part of the deluxe version of her January EP Like..?

Many online observers took issue with Spice rocking the ‘fit onstage, as its short hemline resulted in the rapper’s backside being exposed throughout the performance, the star tugging on the dress all night.

“Idc what anybody say, this is not cute or lady like at all,” wrote one social media user on Instagram, with another adding, “When the music is pure [trash can emoji] and the bars are beyond mediocre THIS is the last resort.”

Nikki D, the first female rapper signed to Def Jam Records, used the moment to call out what she deems the “prostitute era” of Hip-Hop.

“Oh come TF on!!! You mean to tell me, this is true talent.. the Female genre of hip hop today is the ‘prostitution era’, fight me!!,” said the legend, with her full chest.

Regardless, Ice Spice’s 2023 has been seismic. The 23-year-old linked up with Dunkin’ Donuts for her own limited edition drink and the trailer featured Ben Affleck. “I’ve always been a Dunkin’ girl!” she said. “Collaborating with Dunkin’ and Ben Affleck on this spot was a dream. The drink has a fun twist, a little something in the name for my fans, too. I can’t wait for everyone to try it.”

The VMAs Best New Artist winner also recently released “Pretty Girl” featuring Rema and performed the record on Saturday Night Live. She got a special co-sign when Taylor Swift, her “Karma” collaborator, introduced her to the live audience.

As if all of that wasn’t enough, the “Bikini Bottom” rapper secured a placement on Barack Obama’s summer playlist. Her track “Princess Diana” featuring Nicki Minaj made it to the highly coveted collection back in July. Check out the video below.
