If Only Id Known raced the first half of the race from the outside before she found open track on the way to victory in the $10,000 Fillies and Mares Preferred at Fraser Downs on Thursday, Nov. 30.
Scott Knight and the Kelly Hoerdt trainee were caught on the outside through the opening panel in :27.1 along with Grey Sea (John Abbott). Favoured Grey Sea found pylon position in the pocket and If Only Id Known was forced to continue on the engine towards the half in :57. Finally, before the three-quarters was clicked in 1:25.2, If Only Id Known took position on the pylons in the lead. She kept on going to win by three-quarters of a length in 1:55.4. Grey Sea finished second and Pirate Booty (Terry Kaufman) rounded out the triactor.
Christopher Lancaster and Velda Olding co-own the five-year-old Shadow Play mare as she earned her second win of the season and 15th career tally. She moved her lifetime bankroll to $168,693. If Only Id Known returned an $8.30 ticket to win.
Kootenay Cocoa won the $6,500 Tim Brown Memorial by 3-1/4 lengths in 1:57.1 with Tyson Jacoby holding the lines for Kyle Chadwick. Owned by Robert & Barbara Chadwick, the victory continued the perfect six-for-six career of the young freshman filly.
