Coco Gauff has embraced her patriotic spirit as she gears up to represent Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The 20-year-old flaunted her striking American-themed nail art and hairstyle ahead of her debut at the prestigious sporting event.
After sporting stunning blonde tresses during her campaign at the Wimbledon Championships, Gauff has switched up her look as she readies for her return to Roland Garros for the Olympics, which begin on July 26.
Having made an impressive run to the women’s singles semifinals and clinching the women’s doubles title at this year’s claycourt Major, the World No. 2 will aim to continue her success at the venue as she pursues her maiden Olympic medal.
After spending quality time with her family at her grandmother’s house, Coco Gauff has turned her focus to the Olympics. To get into the patriotic spirit, the 20-year-old adorned her nails with art reminiscent of the American flag, featuring a red and blue color scheme and star embellishments. She flaunted her new nails on social media while teasing her upcoming arrival in Paris.
“Paris soonnn 🇺🇸,” she posted on her Instagram story.
The 20-year-old also showed off her new hairstyle, debuting cornrows with special red, white and blue ribbons braided in.
Coco Gauff will be joined by compatriots Jessica Pegula, Danielle Collins and Emma Navarro in the women’s singles event at the Paris Olympics. Like Gauff, Collins has also embraced the team USA spirit by opting for American-themed nail art for the prestigious event.
Coco Gauff: “For me, the Olympics is a top priority, equal to the Grand Slams… I’ll treat it as a once-in-a-lifetime experience”
Coco Gauff has named the Paris Olympics as one of her top priorities for the 2024 season, valuing the event on par with the Grand Slams. During a press conference at the Italian Open earlier this year, the American shed light on her goal to bring home a medal on her debut.
“For me, the Olympics is a top priority. I would say equal to the Grand Slams. I wouldn’t put it above or below just because I’ve never played before. This is my first time. Obviously, I always want to do well, try to get a medal. Yeah, I mean, but the prep is going to be interesting because I’ve never done the grass-to-clay transition before,” she said.
However, the World No. 2 emphasized that she won’t put too much pressure on herself to clinch a medal, asserting that she intends to enjoy her campaign by treating it like a “once-in-a-lifetime experience.”
“I’m not putting too much pressure on it because I really want to fully indulge in the experience. Hopefully I can have the experience multiple times in my lifetime. I’ll treat it as a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” she added.
Coco Gauff has favorable +650 odds of clinching the gold medal at the Paris Olympics, according to betting site FanDuel. The American is second only to Iga Swiatek, who is the frontrunner with -250 odds.
