Influencer slammed for manicure resembling ‘revolting’ bathroom mishap… what do YOU think?

A New York City-based influencer has been slammed over her latest manicure reveal which some critics savagely dubbed the ‘skid mark’ design.

Halley Kate, who describes herself as ‘funnier on TikTok , prettier on Insta’, took to social media to gush about her new nail art featuring her beloved dachshund Rusty.

The content creator was mocked online after she shared the video this week proudly showing off her manicure, calling it ‘The best nails I’ve ever done.’

Viewers were quick to point out the design looked more like ‘blood stains’ and ‘skid marks’ than a cute puppy – while many also mistook it for a brutal injury.

In the clip, Halley said : ‘Actually freaking out today. I took my busted nails from this to this. I never do designs on my nails, but I am so obsessed.’

She continued, explaining she had visited Guilded Ritual salon for a ‘Russian manicure’ with hard gel, praising how the technique leaves ‘cuticles non-existent.’

‘The nail tech was so awesome and helped me pick out the right color to make sure we got Rusty all perfect on my nails. Obsessed with Russian manicures because the attention to detail like your cuticles are non existent after getting one.

‘Just did a really simple nude color as my base and then I broke two of my nails so she added an extension so fast and she did the design so fast as well. She painted on the little dog.’

‘I could not be more obsessed with how these turned out. I’m that crazy doxin lady, I’m not afraid to admit it,’ she added. ‘I took my nails home and showed them to Rusty and he told me he loves them.’

Some of her Instagram followers showered her with compliments calling the design ‘a work of art’ and ‘iconic.’

Many claimed they were ‘obsessed’ and ‘running to the salon’ to copy the look.

‘Omg I’m obsessed with these,’ one user commented on Instagram.

Another wrote: ‘RUNNING to the salon.’

But others had a completely different take.

‘The left nail looks like a skid mark,’ wrote one user.

‘Truly looks like smudged blood,’ added another.

Several users expressed concern with one writing: ‘I genuinely thought she was injured.’

One wrote: ‘I thought it was a clump of period blood,’ with another chiming in saying it ‘looks like she just changed her tampon.’

Some said they thought it was ‘doodie’ or even a subungual hematoma.

‘Was gonna say they look like doodie,’ one comment read.

One comment read: My nails looked like this when I slammed them in my car door. Should have put a clear gloss over them and called it art lol.’

‘Wow this is SO poorly executed,’ another agreed.

Some also criticized Halley of being a New York ‘transplant’ – a term used for non-natives who move to the city and don’t understand the ins and outs.

‘What is it? These girls live in New York City, and manage to pay for/find the most subpar services,’ one user pointed out.

Another blasted: ‘These girls are scared to go anywhere that isn’t a business storefront between Tribeca and the Upper East Side lmao.’

Several commenters pointed out that ‘some of the most talented nail artists are located in deep Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens. Aka the forbidden land where they will never set foot.’
