Internet goes wild after Louisiana-Monroe names starting quarterback

The University of Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks are not projected to win many games this season, but they’re winning off the field in the names department.

That’s because the Warhawks will be led into battle each week by a quarterback with an all-time name: General Booty.

According to a report from college football insider Matt Zenitz, Booty is expected to be named the starting quarterback for ULM this season.

He spent his last two seasons at the University of Oklahoma – sitting on the bench before entering the transfer portal this past season.

Booty played just two games in his time at Oklahoma and did not record any statistics.

Before heading to ULM, Booty was a JUCO star that rode the bench for two years at Oklahoma

A number of people on social media celebrated the decision, while also having some fun with his name.

‘I’d follow him into battle anywhere anytime anyplace,’ wrote one user on Twitter.

‘YES THE BOOTY SHOW IN MONROE IS HAPPENING,’ said another.

An Oklahoma State fan wrote, ‘So many stepping stone programs GB had to go through before finding a home. Finally get to see him w a serious program.’

Before arriving in northern Louisiana, Booty began his career at the junior college level at Tyler Junior College in Texas – where he passed for over 3,000 yards and tossed for 25 touchdowns in 2021.

He then went to Oklahoma where he rode the bench for two years before transferring to ULM.

General Booty has an NFL pedigree in his family – with his uncle being former Minnesota Vikings quarterback John David Booty.
