Irene Frances ‘Booty’ Crider

Irene Frances “Booty” Crider, 83, of Timberville, passed away April 5, 2024, at Shenandoah Place in New Market.

She was born Nov. 26, 1940, in Moorefield, W.Va. to the late Oscar Clarence and Fannie Helmick Shoemaker.

Irene loved her flowers, flower gardening, and reading. She was a creative writer and storyteller and loved decorating and cooking all the kids’ favorite meals.

On April 15, 1961, she married Floyd Leon Crider, who preceded her in death Aug. 1, 2013.

Surviving are her children, Michael Crider and wife, Tynia, of Linville, Angela Stone of Fleming Island, Fla., Jeremy Crider and wife, Wendy, of Quicksburg, Jason Crider and wife, Tanya, of Broadway, Amanda Wilkes and Irene’s special son-in-law, Ricky, of Timberville; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Sylvia Scott and husband, Jake, of Woodstock and Wilda Dove of Edinburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Helmick; sister, Janet Harlow; and son-in-law, Rick Stone.

Pastor Kevin Gerber will conduct a graveside service 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Whitmer Cemetery near Fulks Run.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
