Despite the reign of the short nail last year, long nails have emerged as the most popular trend, gaining 11,287,446 combined views and posts across TikTok and Instagram. And as for design, the timeless French manicure continues to dominate, with 9,406,341 combined views and posts showing off this iconic style.
“French nails also rank as the most popular nail trend in the United States,” Fresha explains, “with an average monthly search volume of 205,703, according to Google.”

The Top Ten Nail Trends
Long nails may be reasserting dominance, but short nails are still wildly popular across social media. Embracing minimalism and functionality, short nails have reached 6,338,707 combined social media views. Shape is proving to be the most important factor for nail trends in 2024. Fifth place goes to almond nails with 4,182,041 combined views and posts on Instagram and TikTok. Rounding out the shape-focused nail trends, square nails garnered 3,118,309 combined Instagram and TikTok views and posts.
But don’t worry, design hasn’t been forgotten.
The future is now with shimmering chrome nails, which have a total of 2,750,114 social media views and posts. If you’re not feeling shiny, the polar opposite, botanical green nails, aren’t far behind with 1,736,528 combined views and posts.
Stronger than a typical gel polish, BIAB (Builder In A Bottle) nails have amassed 1,578,756 combined views and posts. When it comes to tried-and-true colors, pastel nails have gained 955,785 combined views and posts, a perfect way to transition from spring to summer. Finishing out the top ten nail trends of 2024, 3D nails have amassed 835,654 combined views and posts.
