Brass skewer – A brass skewer is inserted into the spout of the karwa. It is believed that this straw demonstrates power. According to the story, Karva’s husband’s leg was caught by the crocodile, at that time she tied the crocodile using these rods with her power and reached Yamraj. At that time Chitragupta was looking at the account of Karva Mata’s life. Then Karwa separated the husband’s story from the pages of Chitragupta with straws and prayed to Yama to save her husband’s life.
