Kenwood Towne Centre continues to thrive with high-end retailers

Nordstrom is one of the anchors in Kenwood Towne Centre, Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2023. They replaced Parisian in 2009. The two level store has 140,000 square feet.

Kenwood Towne Centre has continued to grow and thrive since it opened as Kenwood Plaza in 1956 as a strip shopping center. It was enclosed in 1987, but there are still stores and restaurants only accessible from the street. The mall is anchored by Macy’s, Dillard’s and Nordstrom. Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2023.

In addition to the enclosed portion of Kenwood Towne Centre, there is a streetscape area with stores and restaurants only accessible from the Montgomery side of the mall. Those include, Aroma, Vineyard Vines, Loft, Maggiano’s Little Italy and The Cheesecake Factory that has a street and mall entrance. Kenwood Plaza, as it was originally known, opened as a strip mall in 1956, before I-71 was built. It was renovated with the enclosed stores in 1987 and became Kenwood Towne Centre, though most know it by Kenwood Mall.

Build-A-Bear is now located in the lower level next to the foodcourt in Kenwood Towne Centre, Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2023. Build-A-Bear first opened in October 1997 in St. Louis, Montana.

The Cheesecake Factory has access from the parking lot and inside Kenwood Towne Centre, Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2023. It opened in the mall in 2004.

Tory Burch is located near Nordstrom in Kenwood Towne Centre, Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2023. They describe their store as, “Luxury lifestyle brand defined by classic American sportswear with an eclectic sensibility.” The store opened in the mall in May 2022.
