Po and his friends find themselves having to fight for their lives in a rigged tournament. In Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight season 3 episode 2, while Po grapples with the lies his father hid from him, Wandering Blade and Colin make a deal in order to save everyone from the pirates.
Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight season 3, episode 2 recap – The Tournament
Our episode begins with Po and his friends, Colin included, locked in hanging cages, about to compete in a tournament against pirate Queen Forouzan and the pirates. They get three chances to win one round.
If they win, they are free to go, but if they lose, they all die. Trouble is although there are no rules, pirate Queen Forouzan wants to ensure they don’t survive.
In the first round, after Colin cuffs Wandering Blade, the two are forced to fight together against two rabbit opponents. Because they are cuffed, they of course lose, but it seems romance might be in the air…question mark?
Pirate Queen Forouzan seems convinced Colin likes Wandering Blade because he never stops talking about his mission as a knight to capture her. After their loss, Akna is up next, forced to fight a giant bull, while Rukmini is using the opportunity to make money at the event.
Akna is able to win thanks to her invention but pirate Queen Forouzan attacks her, declaring another loss for Po’s group. As these battles commence, Po is arguing with his father Mr. Ping.
Truthfully so, Mr. Ping calls him a brat, however Po’s emotions are valid as well. Mr. Ping assures his son that his pirate days ended long ago and that his greatest achievement in life was being a father.
Po can’t handle the fact his father lied to him, especially over something so critical. Keep in mind Mr. Ping was a murderous pirate for years, alongside Forouzan.
Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight season 3, episode 2 recap – Po and Mr. Ping
As each battle commences, Mr. Ping tries to aid their friends but Po views all of it as dirty, pirate fighting and nothing honorable. However, as their friends keep losing due to pirate Queen Forouzan, they are left with no choice.
For the third and final round, the pirate Queen herself wants to battle Po. Po puts up a good fight but in the end he listens to his father and together they are able to defeat her.
I’d like to add that I absolutely laughed very loudly at the slow-motion final blow, leading to the father and son victory. This show needs more of those slow-motion moments, they are truly a masterpiece.
Ironically enough, as this is a kid’s show, pirate Queen Forouzan allows Po and Mr. Ping to have their victory.
Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight season 3, episode 2 recap – The agreement
While Akna was fighting, I mean running away from her opponent, Wandering Blade and Colin managed to escape unnoticed. After some mishaps along the way, and more romantic situations, the two come to an agreement.
Wandering Blade will go back to England to face the consequences with Colin, as long as her friends are unharmed. Colin agrees and lights his flare.
The flare explodes vibrantly in the night sky, which will now alert the knights to their location. The pirates below see the signal and immediately panic as the episode comes to a thrilling close.
Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight season 3, episode 2 review
Considering the pirates, especially pirate Queen Forouzan, are terrified to know the knights are coming, tells me everything I need to know about them. How many are coming?
Will they be deer like Colin? Or will the show throw a curveball and the knights are revealed to be far from any real threat.
The show has done this before, so I’m not sure what to expect. Speaking of the unexpected, I am unsure how I feel about a Colin and Wandering Blade romance.
Honestly speaking, Colin does talk about her nonstop. Wait!
What if the poetry he was writing in his notebook seasons prior, that Veruca found and taunted him over were about Wandering Blade all along?! I hope there is more clarification as to what is going on between them.
Perhaps Colin always admired Wandering Blade from a distance but had to hide those feelings once she was deemed a traitor to the queen and country. Overall, this was a fun episode!
Not much really happened in the way that it would affect the plot, again outside the romance, but now it seems a whole new piece to the story is about to unfold with the arrival of the knights.
