Among the few silver linings that come with autumn, with its darker mornings and a distinct chill in the air, is the return of fall nail art. Whether it’s ox-blood reds and wine-inspired hues (see: cabernets and merlots), monochrome finishes or tortoiseshell and French tips, deeper hues are always a welcome addition to our manicure mood boards as the weather turns, eschewing the bright pastels of peak-summer (along with our post-summer glow) in favour of a rich, cosy colour palette.

And if you’re looking for new-season nail inspiration, Kylie Jenner just served the most perfect hue to embrace the new season in: a high-shine liquorice manicure. The beauty mogul, brand founder and multi-hyphenate turned heads when she debuted a new teal hair colour just last week, but those paying close attention will have also spotted a new glossy manicure to complement her ‘do, which was created by her nail tech Zola Ganzorigt.
Complete with square tips (another nail shape you’ll see everywhere soon) and an ultra shiny finish, the colour in question veers between a rich purple and inky black, culminating in a liquorice hue that’s set to dominate this season. You’d be forgiven for thinking it to be the precise work of a Shellac manicure, but actually, it’s a far more affordable alternative. It’s been created using OPI’s ‘Lincoln Park After Dark’ nail polish, and what we can assume to be a generous layer of a clear top coat, meaning you can easily recreate Jenner’s liquorice mani at home.
Fall colours are trending elsewhere too. Just days before, Hailey Bieber switched up her glazed donut nails for an Autumn-approved ‘maple syrup’ manicure, meanwhile, the youngest of the Kardashian clan switched up her nails yet again, opting for a cabernet red (another @opi favourite which goes by the name ‘Yes my Condor Can-do’).
And you need only look at Instagram, where the fashion pack’s chocolate brown trend has made its way firmly onto our fingertips too, along with deep earthy tones and layered chromes giving us ample Autumn nail inspiration for the season ahead.
