Lil Yachty recently kickstarted his international tour with an all-female band, and he has a pretty simple explanation for why he chose to structure his team that way.
On Monday (September 25), Shawn Setaro sat down with the Atlanta rapper to discuss his 42-date Field Trip Tour for Grammy.com. During the chat, he was asked why he chose to only hire women to support his stage act.

“My life is surrounded by women,” he explained. “My two assistants, my mother as a manager, a lot of my friends are women. Women really help me throughout my day.”
He continued: “I just think that women are so powerful. I feel like they rule the world. They are the most important aspect to this world and they don’t get enough credit or shine, especially black women. So that was my aura behind it. I just wanted to showcase that women can shred just as good as men.”
As @LilYachty hits the road for his 42-date global tour, the rapper details how he’ll be bringing his trippy album ‘Let’s Start Here.’ to life — and why he feels like his career is only just getting started. 🎵 https://t.co/J3fvC2gezJ

Earlier this year, Yachty announced the itinerary for his global trek that commenced last week. The cross-national run was planned to support his psychedelic rock album, Let’s Start Here, that arrived in January.
He played his first show on September 21 in Washington, D.C., and is set to make stops across the country in Charlotte, Pittsburgh, Las Vegas, San Diego and Denver, before wrapping things up on November 5 in Detroit.
Lil Boat will then travel across the pond to play dates in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the U.K., France, Spain, Italy and more. The tour then come to a close in Austria on December 17.
In other news, Yachty recently issued a direct message to those who have been judging his new appearance after kicking his lean habit. In early September, the 26-year-old took to Instagram to show off his new look, flaunting a newfound buzz cut (which was hidden under a cap) and slimmed-down physique in a series of photos.

“i chopped da top , fukk it,” he wrote in the caption, pointing out that he got rid of his signature braids.
While many of his followers applauded his “glowing” complexion and “good genes” in the comments section, he also encountered his fair share of trolls. In response, he took to Twitter hours later to fire back.
“i did not stop drinkin lean for n-ggas to bully me and tell me i look like i have leukemia,” he tweeted.
