Local braiders explain the history and cultural significance of Black hair

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) – Black History Month is a time to celebrate the culture, resilience and contributions of Black communities, but it’s also a time to reflect on the struggles that still exist. 

For Black people, hair has always been more than just a style, it’s a statement of identity, pride and history; and yet, it has also been a hot topic of debate and the root of some discrimination.
