Mary J. Blige made a sparkling arrival at the 2023 CFDA Fashion Awards on Tuesday in New York City. The singer wore a sheer Christian Siriano dress with long sleeves and crystal embellishments that created a branch-inspired pattern.
The singer, who accessorized her dress with Jacob and Co. jewelry, frequently collaborates with stylist Maurícía Henry or Jeremy Haynes.
Blige attended the ceremony to present a hip-hop tribute film from music video director Hype Williams, who was honored for his over 30-year-long career. Over the years, the director has worked with many R&B and hip-hop artists, including Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliott and Kanye West. Blige worked with Williams in the 1997 music video for her hit single “Everything,” which currently has over 47 million views on YouTube.
Blige has adopted shining ensembles as her style signature, showcasing sparkling fashion details in her outfits. While presenting Diddy with the Global Icon Award at the 2023 MTV VMAs in September, the songstress wore a black cutout crystal-encrusted Albina Dyla gown.
In terms of new music, Blige released her latest single, “Still Believe in Love,” in October, which features rapper Vado. The singer is also preparing to hit the stage at the Honeyland Festival on Sunday.
Since 1980, the Council of Fashion Designers of America has celebrated the top talent in fashion design with the CFDA Awards. Presented by Amazon Fashion, this year’s ceremony is held at the Museum of Natural History and hosted by actress Anne Hathaway.
