Leading the nominations is American rapper, Megan Thee Stallion with an impressive 12 nods, she will be hoping to pick up silverware in the coveted categories of Song of the Year, Lyricist of the Year, Hip Hop Album of the Year and Hip Hop Artist of the Year’ among others.
The competition is stiff as Stallion goes up against the likes of Nicki Minaj, Drake, Travis Scott and 21 Savage and others, for Hip Hop Album of the Year.
Kendrick Lamar follows closely behind with eleven nominations and Drake rounds off the top three nominees with an impressive eight nods.
Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, GloRilla and Metro Boomin each gained seven nominations and rappers, Future and Travis Scott tied with six.
Among these celebrated international artists, two popular South African artists, Maglera Doe Boy and Blxckie will be flying our flag high on the international stage.
Both artists are competing in the Best International Flow category alongside Nigerian artist, Odumodublvckmea and other musicians from France, UK and Brazil.
Global superstar, Burna Boy has also earned a nod in the Best Live Performance category.
Burna Boy will compete against Busta Rhymes, Cardi B, Drake, Kendrick Lamar and Stallion to name a few.
