Xbox is in the midst of making massive changes to its leadership structure, as a result of recent acquisitions like that of Bethesda Softworks and Activision Blizzard. As detailed by The Verge, multiple Xbox execs will hold new roles after the company reshuffle, including familiar faces like Sarah Bond and Matt Booty having new responsibilities at the company.
We’ll address those two execs first here; Booty will now be the ‘president of game content and studios’ – and that includes overseeing Bethesda. The Starfield maker will “operate as a limited integration entity”, but it’ll now have to report to Booty on the regular.
As for Bond, she will now hold the general title of ‘president of Xbox’ – looking after the hardware and software teams at Microsoft’s Xbox division. Both of these roles appear expanded in comparison to their previous job titles, so, they’ve essentially been promoted within Microsoft’s new gaming structure.
The Verge also notes that once Bobby Kotick leaves his role as CEO of Activision Blizzard at the end of 2023, Microsoft’s gaming leadership team will have more women than men in total – which displays some huge changes internally at Xbox.
There are some other executive reshuffles as well, although most of these are from other divisions within Microsoft’s setup – or they’re less public-facing roles in the gaming space than the ones we’ve mentioned here.
