Milton’s Brightside Players theatre group getting ready for next performance

Boo the bad guys, and cheer on the good guys at the next British Pantomime show in Milton!

Our local community theatre group, the Brightside Players, are back again this year after a successful show last year. Milton residents went in droves to see Peter Pan, and this year, they’ll be treated to Robin Hood and the Golden Goose!

Publicist on the Executive Board for the Brightside Players, Amanda Massey, says this year will be another hit.

A stinky fairy threatens to ruin love in Nottingham. Can Robin Hood still steal Maid Marion”s hear, reclaim the golden goose and defunk Fairy Frankenstink? Boo the baddies as they strut on stage Cheer on our hero in tights and laugh at Nanny and her endless she-nanny-gans.

Massey says the Brightside Players have been around roughly a decade and have run these British Pantomime shows for close to seven years, barring the pandemic.

She feels that while a pantomime traditionally targets young children, they have content that will entertain teenagers and even adults!

It’s an all-ages production as well, as Massey says everybody is enjoying the process of putting the show together. Whether that’s trying on costumes for the first time or cutting the wood that will create the sets, it’s been a fantastic communal production at every step of the way.

Robin Hood and the Golden Goose – A British Pantomime will have its first show on Friday, December 1st the FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton, starting at 7:00 p.m. It will then have two showings on Saturday, December 2nd and two more on Sunday, December 3rd.

If you miss the show this year, Massey says they’ll be back next year with a new story to tell!
