I have been incredibly proud to serve as your MLA, I want to express my deep gratitude for the past four years, during which I have had the great honour of representing the people of Cariboo-Chilcotin. It has been a privilege to serve all of you, and I am thankful for the incredible communities throughout this beautiful riding. There are too many people to thank individually, but I owe particular thanks to all of our residents and to my two assistants, Jenny Huffman and Beverly Marks, who have worked tirelessly in our offices in Williams Lake and 100 Mile House.
This role has given me the remarkable opportunity to not only learn more about our riding but our province as a whole. I have cherished every moment of it and can confidently say I dedicated nearly every minute of the past four years to serving you. Words cannot fully express my appreciation.
I also want to take a moment to address the challenges we face. In my lifetime, I have never seen such societal turmoil. Just last week, the finance minister acknowledged she didn’t want to see gaps in services, which was her explanation for presenting the largest deficit in B.C.’s history. Sadly, we are already witnessing service gaps like never before. Our forestry industry is in a state of severe crisis, facing unprecedented challenges. Permitting issues are hindering business growth and, as a result, impacting the tax revenue that sustains our economy. Our health care system is also experiencing alarming difficulties and gaps that we have never encountered before.
There is significant work ahead for British Columbia, and difficult decisions will need to be made. As I sign off, I do so with immense pride in having served as your MLA and sincerely hope for the opportunity to continue to serve you!. Thank you, once again, from the bottom of my heart.
Sincerely,
A Proud MLA of Cariboo-Chilcotin
