Nashik police return booty worth 2.8 crore to owners

Nashik: The Nashik police organized the Muddemal Return programme at the police headquarters on Wednesday and returned stolen or robbed cash and articles worth Rs 2.8 crore to complainants.
The programme was organised as part of the Police Raising day that is being celebrated by the city police. During the programme, the complainants, who reported theft or robbery, were returned gold jewellery worth Rs 1.67 crore, Rs 48 lakh cash, motorcycles worth Rs 11.87 lakh, other vehicles worth Rs 23.7 lakh, cellphones worth Rs 29 lakh, and other articles valued at Rs 7.33 lakh.
Police officials said prior to the programme, the police organised nine such events in which cash, jewellery and other articles worth Rs 12 crore were handed back to the complainants. During the programme, some complainants like Ramkrushna Khairnar, Manoj Thorat, Pandurang Kulkarni, and Ramakant Bodke expressed their gratitude to the police for their efforts in tracing the criminals and recovering their stolen articles.
CP Sandeep Karnik, DCP (Crime) Prashant Bacchhav, DCP (Zone 1) Kirankumar Chavan and DCP (Zone 2) Monica Raut, among other senior officials of the police commissionerate were present during the programme.
Police officials said after a case is registered, they put in sincere efforts to ensure that the stolen articles are recovered and the criminals are punished for their crimes.
