Q: What is New Creation Esthetics?

A: New Creation Esthetics is a place where you can go and get all of your beauty services done at once, while having the luxury of having your own room and your own space, and you don’t have to worry about who’s beside you. Sanitation and disinfection is my No. 1 priority. I’ve taken multiple extra courses to make sure that the safety of my clients is number one. It’s a space where I want people to feel really beautiful in their own skin, and to make some changes that help them feel more beautiful and more confident in their daily lives.

Q: What are some of your popular services?

A: Our most popular services are gel nails with hand painted nail art, as well as lash lifts and tints and classic lash extensions.

Q: How do you provide gel nails and nail art?

A: The first step is nail prep. I start with extensive cuticle care and I make sure to press the nail without damaging the nail, because nail health is very important and a lot of places don’t really see the importance of keeping the nail healthy.

After that, I apply a very high-quality hard gel or soft gel depending on the nail plate, if it’s more damaged or not. Then I shape it and paint it. And if they want nail art, I have little brushes that I can create the little art with.

Painting nail art is sorted by tiers. So tier one would be polka dots or just quick easy art lines. Tier two and tier three are more detailed with line work and shading and stuff like that. That can take a while. I’m also a perfectionist so I always make it look as best as I possibly can.

Q: Do you have examples of nail art you have done?

A: For St. Patrick’s Day, I painted some Lucky Charms marshmallow cereal on somebody’s nails. In the fall, I did some detailed tiny multi-coloured leaves. A strange one is I did a character portrait of Squidward from SpongeBob. I usually can do pretty well anything that people come in asking for.

Q: What other services do you provide?

A: I also do pedicures, and then I have an option where you can have a luxury pedicure or a luxury manicure. For that I add in a scrub, a sea salt soak in a mask and then afterwards you get an extra long massage. Apart from manicure and pedicure, I offer classic lash extensions, facial waxing, brow lamination and/or tint, lash lift and/or tint, body waxing, gel nails and gel overlay.

The lash lift and tint I try to make as relaxing as possible. I bought a bed that starts out as a chair. It’s mechanical, so you press a button and they get to lay down and be comfortable. Then there’s a nice memory foam pillow and I try to make it a really good experience for them.

Then we prep the eyelashes and put on a shield and it depends how pearled you want your lashes, you’ll get a different shield. I’ve got a high-quality lash lift serum for when you’re perming the eyelashes to have the curl so it doesn’t damage your natural lashes.

Afterwards I apply a nourishing mask to the lashes and that sits for a while, and then I leave it on a spoolie and give it to them so they can keep applying the nourishing mask to feel the extra confidence that their lashes are hydrated and healthy. A lot of women prefer to get them tinted black or dark brown so that in the morning your lashes are already curled and dark, and there’s no need to put on mascara.

Q: What sets New Creation apart from others?

A: What makes me different is my intense detail in client care. I like to keep it as a luxury service. There’s music and aroma therapy. The atmosphere is calm. And on top of that, their health is always my No. 1 priority.

I feel like nowadays people just want to make a quick buck, but for me, it’s more that you get time to relax, time to have to yourself and not worry whether the tools are cleaned or not. You can just know that they’re clean and everything is disinfected. You’re not going to get hurt or have anything damaged, and you can truly relax in this space. It’s a comfortable environment.

I always make sure to have top-quality products and care for everything. I don’t buy cheap stuff off Amazon like a lot of people do nowadays. It’s actually for professional use and with quality materials.

Q: Why did you open New Creation Esthetics?

A: I was always interested in having a career that was artistic in some way. I just didn’t know how. I actually went to school in B.C. for wildlife and fisheries, until I got sick and my doctor recommended that I take a break from school. Once I was better, I ended up applying for MC College (in Saskatoon) which is for nails and hair. I thought I could just do that on the side while I did more education later, but then I ended up falling in love with it and decided that this is the career I wanted.

I always knew that I wanted to start my own business. I actually saw a quote closer to when I was graduating from MC College that you can either work for somebody who dared to take that leap of faith and start their dreams, or you can be that person that takes that leap for their dreams. That resonated with me a lot.

I made sure that if I were going to do it, I felt like I would have to do it now, or else I’d get too comfortable. And I wanted to be comfortable with being uncomfortable, so I took that leap.

Q: How did you decide on the name New Creation Esthetics?

A: I am Christian so I was thinking of a way that I could bring some light into the industry but also not be in your face, so I thought you could either see that I am creating something that is new like nails or curling the lashes, and then also new creation in the Christian way.

Q: How do people book sessions?

A: There’s a link on my Instagram that takes you right to the booking website. If they don’t have Instagram you can email me and I can send the booking link.

Q: What do you love about owning New Creation Esthetics?

A: My favourite part is getting to know different people and their stories. It’s known in the nail world that when you go to your nail artist, it’s like a therapy session. It really does feel like it. People feel relaxed and open, so you get into deep and interesting conversations.
