Nicole Kidman stuns on LA street after major announcement

Nicole Kidman has proven her fashion icon status while attending the star-studded Balenciaga pre-fall 2024 fashion show in Los Angeles.

Balenciaga closed down South Windsor Boulevard in central Hollywood for their pre-fall 2024 show on Saturday, which Kidman attended alongside fellow A-listers Kim Kardashian and Salma Hayek.

Kidman wowed in a chic velvet coat dress and the brand’s signature chunky heels.

The Academy Award winner completed the look with a black clutch and oversized sunglasses.

Also on Saturday, the Paris-based luxury house announced Kidman would become an official “brand ambassador”, joining fellow Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh.

“The legendary actress will continue to grow her long-standing relationship with Balenciaga, where she will be working in an official capacity,” a Balenciaga spokesperson said.

Founded by Spanish-born dress maker Cristobal Balenciaga in 1919, the high-end fashion house has courted controversy in recent years under current creative director Demna Gvasalia, who has helped Balenciaga cross more than $1 billion in annual sales.

However, the label was embroiled in scandal in November 2022 after a controversial advertising campaign featured children holding BDSM-inspired teddy bears, prompting many celebrities to distance themselves from Balenciaga.

A year later, celebrities like Kidman and Kardashian are once again publicly supporting Balenciaga, and the fashion house appears to have bounced back from the controversy.

On the runway, models wore grunge-inspire denim, space age sunglasses and velour tracksuits, the latter a nod to the Hollywood tabloid culture of the 2000s when stars were often snapped out and about in sweats.

In addition to her acclaimed acting career, Kidman is considered a high-fashion style icon and a muse to designers ranging from the late Karl Lagerfeld to former Dior designer John Galliano.

Kidman has a long-standing relationship with Balenciaga dating back to the era of former creative director Nicholas Ghesquiere, who created the star’s iconic red “bow dress” for the 2007 Academy Awards.

Balenciaga and Mr Ghesquiere also created Kidman’s $20,000 wedding dress when she tied the knot with country star Keith Urban in 2006.

Last year, the 56-year-old even walked the runway for Balenciaga during the label’s couture show.
