NORTHVILLE — As pumpkin spice lattes and foliage reports give glimpses into the coming autumn months, Just Because Boutique in Northville will be greeting the season with a fall fashion show on Friday.

The boutique, which sells a variety of women’s clothing, will show off its new fall merchandise at the St. Francis of Assisi Church. Eight models will each show off eight styled garments that will be newly available this coming season. Brands will include Charlie B, Lulu-B and Jess & Jane.

“I still get excited every time the girls come out wearing something new,” said Carla Kolbe, the owner of Just Because Boutique. She adds that this season’s items will have more colors than the usual autumn orange, red and yellow and will be ideal for the transitioning seasonal temperatures. “Summer is always a tough act to follow but, fortunately, fall is equally as spectacular.”

Typically, the show draws in 50 to 100 attendees. It will be sponsored by the Ladies Rosary Society in Northville and proceeds will go towards the church to pay for heating fuel for this winter.

“We invite everyone, we even have people from Gloversville and Broadalbin come,” said Marlene Junquera, a member of the Rosary Society.

The boutique, which originally opened in 2012 under a different owner, has hosted several fashion shows through the years. According to Kolbe, each one leads to a boost in business.

“This weekend, we will be slammed,” Kolbe said. “It’s such an awesome shout out for us here in the village.”

But although the show will benefit both the boutique and the church financially, one of the greater rewards for Kolbe comes from being able to connect with and give back to the community.

“Walking down Main Street, we’re all just little mom and pop businesses. We care very much — we live here, our kids go to school here, we work, shop, do everything in this community, so it’s nice to be able to give back,” Kolbe said.

The fashion show will take place from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. this evening at the St. Francis of Assisi Church in Northville. Admission will cost $7 and will also include door prizes, raffles and refreshments.

“The fashion show is the little star at the end of the summer,” Kolbe said.
