Louisiana-Monroe is set to name Oklahoma transfer General Booty its starting quarterback, a source tells 247Sports and CBS Sports. After entering the transfer portal May 2, Booty committed to ULM May 14 and is now in line to be the Warhawks’ starting QB under first-year head coach Bryant Vincent.
ULM opens the season against Jackson State next week before matchups against UAB and Texas.
Before leaving Oklahoma, Booty had a 32-yard touchdown run during the Sooners’ spring game.
“I loved the time I have got to spend at OU. The people make that a special place,” Booty told the Shreveport (La.) Times in May. “I got to learn from Dillion Gabriel how to attack each game week and prepare. From coach (Brent) Venables, I learned how important it is to establish culture and I will cherish my time I had with all my teammates.”
He spent 2022 and 2023 at Oklahoma after a year at Tyler (Texas) Junior College. At Tyler, Booty threw for 3,410 yards and 27 touchdowns. His average of 284.2 passing yards per game ranked second-best at the JUCO level in 2021.
As a high school senior at Allen (Texas) High, the former three-star recruit accumulated 2,235 passing yards, 401 rushing yards and 35 total touchdowns.
