Phoebe Burgess has taken to social media to spruik a designer Woolworths bag that has been slammed as ridiculous by shoppers.
The supermarket giant collaborated with British fashion designer Anya Hindmarch, best known for her luxury handbags and accessories, to create The Universal Bag – a stylish and sustainable tote, which retails for $20.
The former football WAG, 36, shared a short clip to her Instagram story on Friday to reveal that she was ‘obsessed’ with her new supermarket accessory.
The clip, shot from Phoebe’s point of view, showed her carrying her new bag as she strolled along a sidewalk.
She could be seen wistfully swinging the empty shopping bag as she walked, eventually setting it down in a grassy area.
She had since filled the bag, but rather than it overflowing with groceries, it was full of an array of colourful towels.

‘It’s available at the Woolies checkout, no joke,’ Phoebe enthused in the clip’s caption. ‘And I’m obsessed with mine.’
She continued extolling the virtues of the bag in a second caption that read, ‘Having a moment with this checkout cutie.’
It appears that Phoebe’s gushing sentiments were not shared by shoppers who had a very different reaction to the designer bag.
‘So at a time when I can barely afford to buy groceries, Woolies puts out a $20 bag to put barely anything into. Got it,’ one revealed.
‘Omg that is outrageous,’ another said.
‘$20… in this economy?!’ one raged.
Aside from the absurdity of releasing a $20 bag in a cost of living crisis by Woolies of all places, it’s not even an on-trend shade of green, it’s still giving corporate Woolies green,’ another added.
‘Cost of living crisis and Woolworths thought let’s bring out a $20 shopping bag,’ one chimed in.

Others said the price of the bag was ‘insane’ while another said they ‘literally eye rolled’ when they saw it in stores.
‘That escalated quickly from free to 10 cents to $1 to $20,’ one pointed out.
‘They really are out of touch with what’s going on these days,’ another added.
However, not everyone agreed with the outrage, with one saying: ‘I’ll buy it because it’s the only Anya Hindmarch I’ll ever be able to afford.’
‘It’s an Anya Hindmarch bag. She’s a UK accessories designer who collabs with supermarkets mainly in the UK. They sell out every time and we are super lucky to have these in Australia. Got mine because I love it and can afford it,’ another revealed.
‘No way!! These are amazing,’ one raved.
Made from 100 per cent recycled plastic, every element of the bag, from the fabric to the stitching, has been certified under the Global Recycling Scheme (GRS), ensuring it meets the highest sustainability standards.
Unlike flimsy alternatives that wear out within months, the tote bag is built to last a full decade, having undergone rigorous durability testing.

Phoebe and her NRL star ex-husband Sam famously made headlines when the sportsman admitted to cheating on her during their four-year marriage.
The couple tied the knot in 2015 but went their separate ways in late 2018, before briefly rekindling things in April 2019, only to split for good just six months later.
Former Rabbitohs star Sam later admitted to cheating on Phoebe and told how he ’embarrassed’ his wife with his behaviour.
‘I don’t think I was the greatest husband at times. I embarrassed my wife. I’d had an affair with a girl, a woman in Melbourne. That’s true,’ he previously said on SAS Australia.
‘I was away on tour, and regretfully that happened. Which would have been… it would have been a tough place for Phoebe to be.’
