Ted Field’s Radar Pictures has teamed with For Us By Us Studios to develop a scripted series about the iconic Fubu hip hop clothing brand.
The Fubu (For Us By Us) series will chronicle the story of the brand where money, power, and hip hop fashion collided to create a $6 billion empire.
Fubo was founded in 1992 by J. Alexander Martin, Keith Perrin, Carlton Brown, and Shark Tank star Daymond John. “Rising from the gritty streets, it shattered norms and blazed a trail for urban fashion,” with its ascent “marked by bold moves, high-stakes gambles, and a relentless hustle that turned a dream into a global sensation,” according to the press release.
The Fubo series also “delves into the controversial moments, the power struggles, and the untold stories behind the scenes.” Viewers can “witness the clashes, the triumphs, and the scandals that defined their path to greatness.”
“We see this collaboration as an opportunity to not only celebrate the vibrant culture of hip hop but also to honor the unsung heroes who have shaped its fashion landscape,” said Field. “Through their stories, we aim to inspire and empower audiences, while highlighting the transformative power of creativity and self-expression.”
The project is being spearheaded by J. Alexander Martin and Roberto “Rush Evans, co-founders of For Us By Us Studios, Chante Evans, series executive producer; Field, co-founder of Interscope Records and producer (Jumanji, Riddick, Wheel of Time), Justin Smith, producer (Bodied, Guardians of Justice. Flinch), and Terry Ross, Ross Media Group, board member of Carnegie Hall and executive producer (Freaknik).
Said Martin: “Fubu has always been about empowerment and breaking boundaries. Partnering with Radar Pictures allows us to tell our story authentically and with the respect it deserves. We are eager to showcase the journey of Fubu from a small startup to a global brand, and the impact it has had on our culture.”
Added Evans: “This series is a tribute to everyone who believed in the vision of Fubu. It’s about community, resilience, and the power of believing in yourself. We are honored to partner with Radar Pictures to share this narrative with the world.”
