The midfielder puts pen to paper on a one-year extension of his pre-existing contract on Tyneside on the back of Gateshead’s unbeaten start to the 2024/25 Vanarama National League season, seeing The Heed sit top of the league table after the opening month.

Booty has been ever-present in Gateshead’s side throughout August, appearing in every minute of our six league games so far while recording five assists – a tally which stood at six before Jacob Butterfield’s goal against Yeovil Town was deemed as an own goal.

“It’s really nice,” said Booty.

“A lot of conversations were had with the gaffer about plans for me going forward, and I think you can see with the way that we’ve started the season as well that I’m happy to have signed.

“I’m buzzing to still be here and I think on the pitch that’s starting to show – the position I’m playing in now was all part of the conversation we had in the summer.

“I feel like we had unfinished business at the end of last year with where we finished, and the conversations I had with the gaffer were we were going to go even stronger this year.

“When you’re happy, you’re enjoying your football and you’re playing your best football, that’s where you want to stay.

“I already had another year left on my contract, but the faith they put in me to want to keep me at this football club and make sure I didn’t go elsewhere was something that I wanted to repay.

“When you’ve got a management team that you get on so well with and you play your best football under, you’d be silly to go away from that.”
