Sexyy Red Responds To Claim That She Was “Put Out To Misguide” Black Women

Sexyy Red has an understandable question to a claim that her rise in fame has hidden motives. The “Pound Town” rapper shared a response to a social media user who asserted her purpose had negative intentions.

“Sexyy Red was really put out to misguide our blk women, and it’s working,” wrote a user of the X platform, formerly known as Twitter.

“Makin y’all shake a** misguiding y’all?” rightfully questioned the chart topper.

The St. Louis native enjoyed a breakout moment this past summer with her viral tracks and authentic personality, laying the groundwork for continued success. Throughout the process, the “Hellcats SRTs” rhymer has endured social media criticism of her appearance, as well as the subject matter of her music and explicit lyrics.

“I’m going to just keep being myself and they going to mess with you when you being genuine,” explained the rising artist earlier this year. “I’m going to try to stay around for a long time.”

She continued to elaborate, “I just be myself. I really don’t care what nobody think. People, they try to bully people. You not never supposed to let nobody make you feel uncomfortable with being your true self, for real, no matter what you want to dress. Do what you do.”

Despite all, the “Female Gucci Mane” rapper has notched a handful of wins including being nominated in the Best Breakthrough Hip-Hop Artist at the 2023 BET Hip-Hop Awards, cosigns from rap veterans including Drake and Nicki Minaj, and leading Billboard and TikTok’s first-ever music chart.
