Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was crammed full of Easter Eggs, references, and cameos, but one of the most exciting ended up on the cutting room floor. Early plans called for a post-credits scene to take us to The Bar With No Name, a classic location from the comic books.
That’s where Spider-Man’s villains tend to hang out…and where they typically take a beating from the web-slinger, of course.
In this scrapped stinger, The Spot was going to rock up, laying waste to his fellow supervillains before pouring himself a drink…which would have subsequently leaked out of each of his holes. Thanks to Toonado.com, a first look at The Bar With No Name’s cadre of classic comic book baddies has been revealed and at least a few of them are very comic book accurate.
We’ve already seen the animated franchise put a wild spin on the likes of Green Goblin and Scorpion, but for the most part, the likes of Hobgoblin, 8-Ball, and Puma look like they’ve been torn straight from the page. At the same time, Jesús Alonso Iglesias’s gorgeous designs deliver a fresh take on the likes of Jackal, Hypno-Huster, and Screwball.
Will Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse finally put the spotlight on Spidey’s classic villains after featuring so many wall-crawling Variants in the second chapter? We’d like to think so, especially as the Sinister Six Cartel has taken charge of Earth-42’s New York City!
In the meantime, take a closer look at these Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse character designs below.
Let’s forget The Spot for a second (some more development of him is still awaiting to show up 😏) and move on to a funnier assignment, this gang of villains that didn’t make it in the movie but gave us all really good moments exploring some personal versions of them #spiderverse pic.twitter.com/HrkIGTdpcO
