Suspect charged with murder in weekend stabbing in Mathews

A Lockport man has been charged with second degree murder after he allegedly killed a 20-year-old this weekend.

Sheriff Craig Webre said that at around 12:20 p.m. on Feb. 18, deputies responded to a call of a stabbing on Adams Street in Mathews. When deputies arrived, they found Tre’ Booty, 18, of Lockport. He was the reported suspect. He was located in a nearby vehicle with what looked like blood on his clothing.

He was immediately taken into custody.

Authorities then located the victim, Hunter Parks, 20, of Larose. He had several stab wounds to his body, primarily in his torso. Authorities attempted lifesaving measures on the victim until EMTs arrived, but Parks was later pronounced dead .

Authorities have investigated and learned that Parks was at his mother’s residence when Booty arrived. The two got into an altercation and Booty allegedly stabbed Parks multiple times.

Booty was booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex in Thibodaux, charged with second-degree murder. Bail is set at $500,000.
