The 15 high-street spring updates GH editors are buying now

Spring wardrobes start here. This week, 10 GH editors – across ages, sizes and styles – each choose their favourite high street store and the 15 pieces they’ve just collectively bought (or are about to) for spring 2025 and why.

Each of these pieces fill a wardrobe gap, work with what we already own and feel exciting and fresh for spring 2025 and beyond. Think Uniqlo’s ultimate bomber designed by ex-Givenchy creative director Clare Waight Keller, whose new collection lands at Uniqlo today; an Anthropologie dress so good one of us is buying her third; and the prettiest Marks & Spencer midi pencil skirt around.

These are the high-street finds we genuinely love and will wear all year – and the smartest buys to make now. Join us.

The spring updates GH editors are shopping now

ME+EM – Jane Bruton, editor-in-chief

“I admire Me+Em’s founder, Clare Hornby, as a businesswoman, and love that she’s built a British fashion brand aimed at modern grown-up women that focuses on quality, longevity and uplifting personal style. I own one of its ‘Intelligent’ blazers, which I love for its everyday usefulness and chic design. For me, Me+Em blouses perfectly walk the line between fashionable and timeless, and its dresses are as brilliant for nights out as they are for meeting Good Housekeeping cover stars, or for a busy day at the office. My spring update from Me+Em? It’s hard to choose! Summery dresses are my weakness, and this one in 100% cotton will be my summer staple. For now, though, I’m updating my wardrobe with this soft orange cheesecloth blouse – my nod to the boho trend.”

MARKS & SPENCER – Alison Lynch, head of content GHI

“After years of not quite getting it right – an errant ruffle here, an unexpected peplum there – Marks & Spencer is now delivering hit after hit, making affordable pieces you’ll wear for years. Just look at the sell-out success of those suede loafers and the Barbour-inspired wax jacket last month to see its pulling power. My piece for spring? I can’t choose one, so I’ve gone with an outfit (which I already own). First, this gorgeous machine washable, powder blue, embellished midi pencil skirt. Great with heels and a white shirt for events, but equally chic with a delicate knit for the office. To go full-on 1960s, this striped cropped jacket is a perfect spring-ready item. Note, the jacket comes up quite cropped, so I’ll be wearing a high waist and a white tee underneath. I don’t need to tell you these pieces won’t hang around for long!”

SÉZANE – Melanie Rickey, style director

“I admire that Sézane’s founder, Morgane Sézalory, started the business as an eBay account in 2013. Also that, despite becoming a fashion force, it maintains its founding philosophy of creating only beautiful, high-quality pieces at accessible prices that don’t harm the environment in any way – win! This makes it an easy place to buy from – no endless checking of fabric sourcing and its B Corp status means it follows ethical practices in its supply chain. I’ve been eyeing up the Alvere guipure lace blouse in cream for a while – in 93% organic cotton and machine washable at or below 30 degrees, it will be easy to care for – it’s pretty, a little bit sexy and versatile enough to wear in a laid-back mood with jeans, wide-leg trousers and heels for evening, or with shorts and sandals in the summer. I probably should click now, before it’s too late!”

HUSH – Sue Smith, chief sub-editor

“Hush is my go-to brand – I live in dresses year-round and Hush focuses on laid-back pieces with a fashion edge, exactly what I love to wear. I’ve already made my Hush spring buy – the Marlie dress. It’s made from a soft 100% cotton jersey fabric, and the design gives the illusion of a matching top and skirt, but – and this is the best bit! – you can hitch the hem up slightly to create volume at the waist or pull it all the way down for a more streamlined look. The adjustability means it can be office-appropriate by day and dressed up for a night out with silver ankle boots, a leather jacket and a decoration. Plus, the burgundy shade adds a lovely pop of colour for the new season. Easy to wear, easy to machine wash – and very reasonable at £65.”

ANTHROPOLOGIE – Emma Justice, special projects director & travel expert

“What I love about Anthropologie is how unique and boho its styling is and that, as well as its own range, it stocks smaller labels from individual designers and caters for all shapes and sizes. For spring, I’m adding a blue and white Somerset maxi dress to my wardrobe, which reminds me of Delftware pottery – it comes in a wide size range from petite all the way up to 3xL. I’m adding it to the two I bought last summer because I’ve never had so many compliments on them! The shape is flattering on fuller figures like mine and they’re machine washable, don’t need ironing and are really easy to wear. And of course, with Anthopologie, there’s always a chance I’ll come out with something lovely for my home, too.”

BODEN – Nathalie Whittle, deputy editor

“Boden isn’t a place I normally consider for fashion updates, but after swooning over a coat in the office on GHI head of content Alison Lynch and the sheep jumper worn by junior fashion editor Corin Ripley, I’m a convert. The clothes are chic, comfy and best of all, 100% mood-boosting! My pick for spring? It’s a hard one, but is there a better transitional piece than a trench coat? I’ve been looking for a shorter trench for a while, so discovering Boden’s Mayfair Cropped Trench was like finding gold – and don’t get me started on the gorgeous hazelnut colour, which is a major upgrade to the faded (once khaki, now less so) quilted jacket currently hanging in my coat cupboard. I’ll be pairing it with wide-leg jeans, a classic white T-shirt and my H&M loafers for many a picnic in the sunshine… or rain!”

UNIQLO – Saska Greville, product director

“Since Clare Waight Keller – the former creative director of Chloe and Givenchy, no less – took over at Uniqlo, it’s become a high-end basics heaven (even Anna Wintour agrees). Clare’s new Uniqlo C range arrived in store today, and if there’s one thing to buy now (and do it today – I did! – the collection has just landed), it’s the burgundy bomber. It’s by far the most ‘designery’-looking everyday elegant piece in the collection; the oversized fit gives it a modern, expensive edge, and I can see it becoming an everyday staple for years to come.”

EVERLANE – Mel Giandzi, senior food & drink writer

“I always have success shopping at Everlane and love its effortlessly cool, functional and responsible approach to dressing. For spring, I’m investing in this gorgeous washable (!) silk shirt in the dreamy French blue shade. As I cycle to and from the office every day, I want something breathable that looks smart but is also comfortable to cycle in (and works with jeans and trainers). I lean into sporty-casual style so love the boxy fit, and it’ll go perfectly with shorts once the weather is warmer. I’ll pair it with a cropped trench or my camel blazer for a smarter, pared-back look. Silk is notoriously tricky to care for, so the fact it’s washable makes this a win.”

MANGO – Florence Reeves-White, senior beauty writer

“Mango is one of the very few brands I allow myself to punctuate my endless Vinted scrolling with. My wardrobe is a time portal to the 1970s, and all the brown suede in Mango’s new-in section this season has surely been sent to test me. I’m currently convincing myself that I need this goat suede jacket, which is perfectly fitted with patch pockets, a just-right collar and the ideal cropped length to wear with just about everything else I own – no pair of jorts, wide-leg trousers, jeans or long skirt is safe as spring approaches. Before I commit, I’m taking our household advice editor’s recent suede cleaning guide as a sign from the universe that it’s worth the investment, because I’m now well-equipped to keep it in good nick. Last season, I nabbed a brown suede bag, similar to this lovely leather one. Spot the theme…”

& OTHER STORIES – Maddie Evans , lifestyle writer

“I love that & Other Stories has design ateliers in Los Angeles, Paris and Stockholm, and those different moods suit the way I dress. My signature item is a slip dress, and though I have many, I don’t own one with such a high-neck/Kate Moss/1990s spin to it, which is why this aptly coloured cherry-blossom pink satin dress is my spring update. I’ll wear it to a spring wedding with simple slingback heels and a muslin shawl. Afterwards, it will work with a cardigan and boots until we get to the warm(ish) embrace of summer. No matter when I wear it, though, for me no look is complete without a gold hoop earring. I love these chunky ones that will stand both the test of seasonality and tarnishing time.”
