Abby McHale tries the best of the high street’s offerings in a size 14 – all for under £10 – and rates them out of five.

NUTMEG has the smallest range of all the brands featured, but at £5, this one is a bargain – especially if you like them tight.

RELAXED SHORT-SLEEVE TEE, £9.50

THE most expensive of the bunch, I had high hopes – and this one was by far the softest.

I really liked the way it looked on as I prefer my T-shirts to give me some shape but not be too fitted.

It was nice and light too, so it didn’t make me feel sweaty.

VERY: 4/5

ESSENTIAL CREW NECK, £6

THE Everyday own-brand value range comes in affordable prices.

The shape fitted really well and is what I would call a classic style.

It is the right level of thickness and is not overly stretchy.

It washed really well and didn’t need an iron, either. Result.

TU: 3/5

OVERSIZED BOXY T-SHIRT, £6

This Sainsbury’s T-shirt was by far my favourite

AT first feel, this Sainsbury’s T-shirt was by far my favourite.

It felt more like one you’d buy from the likes of Gap.

But I did get a make-up mark on it which did not come out completely at 30C.

It also came out of the wash very creased.

GEORGE: 4/5

REGULAR FIT COTTON T-SHIRT, £6

THIS Asda number is not overly soft or too stiff, with the fabric being 100 per cent cotton.

The shape of the top skimmed over my chest rather than being too tight, which I prefer.

The round neck and sleeve length also made this one of my favourites.

PRIMARK: 4/5

PRIMARK ESSENTIAL BOXY TEE, £4.50

This Primark version is not as soft as some but is still light and airy

AT this price, it’s an absolute steal. While it’s not as soft as some, it was still light and airy.

The sleeve length is the longest I would go – they came pretty much to my elbows.

But it’s a great option if you want a tee that is slightly oversized without being too long.
