The best, softest, most comfortable outfits have got to be the Air Essential line from SPANX. I can’t even begin to describe the fabric of this set. It is incredibly soft and feels like a Ponte knit, except it is almost silky. There is only one drawback to this set…the price. I’ve been looking, and I finally found The Best Spanx-Like Loungewear Set for Women Over 50.
Who Is Spanx
Spanx is a brand of shapewear founded by Sara Blakely in 2000. Sara Blakely came up with the idea for Spanx when she wanted to create a solution for visible panty lines while wearing white pants. Since then, the company has branched out to clothing.
The Best Spanx-Like Loungewear Set for Women Over 50
The best Spanx-like loungewear set I found is from Amazon. Spanx sells the half zip top and wide-leg pants separately, but this is a 2-pice set. The price difference between the Spanx set and the Spanx-like set is over $200!!!
Since I already have the Spanx set in black, I decided to order the Spanx-like set in navy, but it is available in many colors. I ordered Spanx in navy, but the top and pants weren’t the same color, so I kept the top and sent the pants back. The top looks great with jeans, so that is how I usually wear it.
We might not see our backside, but that angle is what a lot of people see. I like to try and show the back of most outfits since it is almost as important as the front.
This is the best Spanx-like loungewear set I could find, but there are a few differences. If you do a quick glance at the set, you might mistake this set for Spanx. However, if you own the Spanx set, you can spot the differences.
The zipper is the first difference I noticed. The Spanx zipper is metal and not as oversized. The material feels a lot like the Spanx version, but it is not quite as thick or heavy as the Spanx one. Also, this is a small detail, but those who own Spanx know that the zipper has a braided pull attached.

so does this set. I honestly don’t know the reason, or even if there is one, for the slit. It might just be a design detail, and not a functional one.
Here is a look at the wide leg pants. They are very comfortable and have a drawstring tie waist. You will love how the set feels, and it is perfect for lounging or running errands. I love outfits like this; the kind that is comfortable, but you don’t have to quickly change if you think a friend is dropping by for coffee.
