It’s been a beloved children’s classic for decades.
And now Stan has announced that a new action-packed series based on The Famous Five novels by Enid Blyton will premiere on the streaming giant in December.
Featuring Game of Thrones star Jack Gleeson, the three-part adventure follows the exploits of a group of four young explorers and their dog.
Each part of the series is 90-minutes long, with the first episode of the series scheduled for release in Australia this December, while parts two and three will follow in 2024.
The plot centres on the Famous Five as they are menaced by a treasure hunter on a deserted island.
Things become dicey for the Five as they become involved in the race to discover the secrets of a mysterious manuscript.
And a new teaser promises plenty of excitement for fans of Blyton’s much loved characters.
From the trailer, it appears that the action takes place in the 1940s, the time period of Blyton’s original adventure yarns.
In one scene the Famous five can be seen in an old sail boat navigating through scary looking cliffs.
Another moment in the trailer features what appears to be a secret cave.
Other scenes feature menacing looking adult characters in a spooky forest, and a chase through a darkened tunnel.
Starring as the Famous Five are Elliott Rose (The Northman) as Julian, the eldest of the group, while the naughty Dick is played by Kit Rakusen from Stan series The Midwich Cuckoos.
Also starring as ‘tomboy’ George is Diaana Babnicova (Don’t Breathe 2) and newcomer Flora Jacoby Richardson plays Anne, the youngest member of the Famous Five.
And rounding the ‘Five’, is Timmy the Dog, who is played by a Bearded Border Collie Cross called Kip.
