If there’s one thing a hyperpop princess loves, it’s a fun pop culture reference. Addison Rae is no different, she regularly draws inspiration from icons, such as Madonna and Marilyn Monroe, when experimenting with her favourite beauty products and crafting a new look. “Monroe is always a make-up inspo,” Rae previously told Vogue, while also praising Madonna’s make-up from her Erotica era. Rae has a penchant for red lipstick – Lisa Eldridge’s Velvet Enchantment to be exact – and dabs it on lips as soon as she wakes up, before blending the same product on her cheeks for a natural flush.

But for her latest beauty coup – a beachy floral mani for Coachella – Rae took inspiration from a more recent moment in pop culture: specifically Lindsay Lohan’s infamous nail art for a court appearance back in 2010. The actor – who was in front of a judge for violating the terms of her probation following a 2007 drink driving charge – had the words “f**k you” stencilled onto the nail of her middle finger. Rae swerved the profanity in favour of a different message, “June 6”, which is the release date for her forthcoming album, Addison.
The work of celebrity manicurist Natalie Minerva, OPI’s Flex On The Beach, Stay Out All Bright, It’s A Boy, and Makeout-Side shades were all layered on “for a more subtle version of the leopard print [tie-dye] Lilo court nails”, the nail artist shared on Instagram.
