Timberwolves nail art highlights fan pride

From beach towels to tattoos and now nails, there are countless ways to show support for the Timberwolves.

LAKE ELMO, Minn. — There’s countless ways to show off being a diehard Timberwolves fan right now. From t-shirts to beach towels and even tattoos, it seems like there’s a never ending stream of support for the Wolves as they head into the Western Conference Finals.

A Lake Elmo woman is changing that, and adding her own twist.

“I’m an artist first, nail tech second,” Crystal Hoang, a nail artist, said. “I get to draw, paint, sculpt.”

Hoang recently started adding Timberwolves designs to her clients’ nails. Those designs feature the logo, player numbers and even popular phrases coined by Anthony Edwards.

“The team or whatever they’re excited about, and it just makes me want to try and really impress them,” Hoang said.

Hoang says business has jumped during the Timberwolves playoff run, and she expects demand to grow even larger than it currently is.

“We always, like, tried to just throw it out there on social media and see what happens.” she said. “You just never know what’s gonna catch.”

“Growing up doing art and things, like I never thought I would get paid for my art. This is literally me getting paid for my art and people wanting my art,” she continued.

Hoang says she’s been a fan of the Wolves for years, and loves how this is bringing people together.

“Whether it’s nails, whether it’s tattooing, whether it’s literally anything, it’s literally just people coming together and having fun, and it’s super positive,” Hoang said.
