Born and raised in New York, Angelo Baque founded Awake NY in direct influence from New York’s cultural landscape. In their latest collection with Tommy Hilfiger Baque and Tommy Hilfiger pull direct inspiration from the highly anticipated: first-day-of-school outfits. As a true New Yorker, Baque has always valued the importance of your outfit as a New York City kid. Carefully curated and designed, much like their inspiration, 17 new pieces bring all our 90s favorites to the front.
The classic reversible Alaska Puffer features recycled filling over a city landscape illustration. Tommy Hilfiger and Baque share the same belief that youth fashion is the “cornerstone of American youth culture”. The two brands coincide best in their patterns with the Awake NY daisy print on a soft fleece jacket and the iconic Tommy flag behind the Awake logo on a navy tee. The bodycon Tommy dress is reimagined with detailed butterflies and the Awake logo plastered above the classic white Tommy band. Structured rugby jackets, tight-collared shirts with a zip-down, flannels, hoodies, and more are just a few of the perfect touches found in this collection.
A rebranded kind of nostalgia, these two creatives gave classic archival pieces a reimagined design. “Over the decades pop culture has defined the looks of each generation,” Tommy says, “With this collection, we pay tribute to the students of the ‘90s who fused fashion with a hip-hop spirit, as we bring a fresh twist to archival classics.”
The new collection was released on September 15th and can be found on awakenyclothing.com and usa.tommy.com.
