What is General Booty’s real name? The story of how ULM QB got his unique full name

With the enormous amount of college football players, there are bound to be some names that make you double-take. In the past, we have had guys like Ha-Ha Clinton Dix, Storm Duck, and even someone named Hot Rod Fitten. The humorous names have even sparked 247Sports and other outlets to release their “all-name” team each fall.

Perusing the list for 2024, there are some great candidates. FIU tight end Rowdy Beers, SMU left guard King Large, and Duke edge rusher Memorable Factor are incredible. Whether the list is based on position or overall ranking, one name arguably rises above them all.

General Booty.

It may not only be the best name in college football but also the best name you have ever heard. Here’s how the QB got his name.

What is General Booty’s real name?

It’s not a nickname. His real name is, in fact, General Booty.

General Booty’s full name

The University of Louisiana-Monroe quarterback’s legal name is General Maximus Axel Booty. His parents had planned to call him by his middle name Axel, but according to an interview with the Dallas Morning News, he would only respond to General.

Who is General Booty’s dad?

Booty’s father, Abram, played wide receiver at LSU in the late ’90s. Abram was reportedly “fascinated” with the military and always wanted to name his son Genera if he had one. Abram coached high school football at Sage Hill School and also penned a script for a football movie called Work Horses, but the project was never greenlit.

General Booty family tree

The Booty family has roots in Louisiana. While Abram played wide receiver, his brother (General’s uncle) Josh played quarterback for the Tigers and was drafted to the NFL in 2001. He had initially been a baseball player, spending two years in the then-Florida Marlins organization.

General’s other uncle, John David, also played football and was a quarterback for USC. He was a fifth-round draft pick in 2008 and was with the Vikings for two years. John David was then on the Titans’ practice squad in 2009 and spent the 2010 preseason with the Texans before being cut ahead of the regular season.

What colleges has General Booty gone to?

Booty bounced around high schools. He attended two in California and two others in Texas. He finally graduated from Allen High School in his hometown. Booty went to Tyler Junior College in 2021 and used a productive season to transfer to the University of Oklahoma.

He spent two seasons with the Sooners and then transferred to ULM ahead of the 2024 season.

General Booty’s Stats

Booty finished his time at Tyler College with 3,410 yards and 27 touchdowns, as the team finished with a 7-5 record. Despite spending two years at OU, Booty never accumulated any stats. ULM had an early bye week, so he has only played in two games for the Warhawks.
