Why no polish is the nail look of the summer

Spotted at recent fashion parties, at the ends of hands clutching champagne glasses and fingers holding croquettes were — brace yourselves — naked nails. Not “nude” nails in varying shades of peach and pinky-brown, as has been the trend of late, but nails with nothing on at all, not even clear polish, free from the bondage of shellac. They communicate an uncomplicated cool, their wearers too busy or unbothered to book a manicure or paint their nails themselves. They do not have to clip, snip, buff, polish and paint to have enviable nails; they’re simply attractive by nature. Or so they’d have you believe.
