The monkey, nicknamed ‘big daddy’, bit Tasmin Tricker’s finger, mistaking her leopard print nail-tips to be peanuts.
Tasmin Tricker, a 26-year-old from Coulsdon, south London, had an unexpected encounter during a spontaneous holiday in Morocco recently. While visiting the Ouzoud Falls, Tricker found herself in an unusual situation while feeding a Barbary macaque during a day trip. A huge monkey, nicknamed ‘big daddy’, leaped onto her head, eagerly looking for its share of snacks. Despite Tricker’s attempts to feed the monkey on her own, it grabbed her hand, ate the food and unfortunately, bit her finger in the process, mistaking her leopard print nail-tips to be peanuts.
The woman shared a clip of the incident on her TikTok account, which has over 2.5 million views currently. Recalling the incident, Tricker said in her video, “We started feeding the monkeys and one got on me. I felt his gnashers nip me.” She added that the monkey mistook her leopard print french tip nails as nuts. “I freaked out,” she recounted.
Despite the panic-inducing situation, Tricker remained relatively composed, saying that the monkey was the first one she held and “he was the big one as well, it was quite a lot.” She revealed that the monkeys were “friendly” according to the tour guide, “but not to me,” she added.
However, Tasmin Tricker still remained unfettered by the incident, recalling that the monkey was holding her hand with his hand “which was funny and his belly was all against the back of my head.” She was also thankful that the monkey did not take her Gucci sunglasses which were a gift to her from her mother on her birthday. “It was lucky he didn’t take them,” she said.
The woman shared further details of the incident, recalling how the tour guide told her to kneel down in an attempt to get the monkey off of her. “I didn’t really know what I was doing because I was in panic mode. I froze a bit,” she admitted, acknowledging her initial confusion. Despite the relatively minor nature of the bite, Tricker recognised her reaction as an exaggeration, influenced by stories she had heard about monkeys. “People commented on the video saying I need to get rabies jabs but he didn’t break my skin. I think I just panicked,” she said.
Tricker then found herself in a somewhat hilarious predicament as her hair became entangled with the monkey’s hand on another tourist’s shoulder. “My hair was caught in the monkey’s hand on the other guy’s shoulder so I was stuck there while I was waiting for someone to get it out. It was quite funny,” she recounted.
Despite the incident, Tasmin Tricker remains undeterred from having wildlife adventures. “You just never know with animals. You can’t really do those sorts of trips and expect nothing to happen. It’s nature. I’ll definitely do it again,” she concluded.
