Wright House of Fashion will host a free youth workshop focused on art, collage, fashion, and activism.
Andre Wright, executive director of Wright House of Fashion, and Cey Adams, founding creator of Def Jam Records, have partnered to offer the workshop.
Mr. Adams is an American visual artist, graphic designer, and author. He was the founding creative director of Def Jam Records and also co-founded the Drawing Board, Def Jam’s in-house visual design firm, where he created visual identities, album covers, logos, and advertising campaigns for Run DMC, Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, Public Enemy, Notorious B.I.G., Maroon 5, and Jay-Z. Mr. Adams has been described as “legendary” for his work in hip-hop graphic design. He appeared in the historic 1982 PBS documentary Style Wars, which tracks subway graffiti in New York.
The workshop will take place Friday, Aug. 18, 12-3 p.m., at the Wright House of Fashion, 910 S. Gilbert Street, Iowa City.
Founded in 2022, the Wright House of Fashion (WHOF) is a nonprofit organization committed to the mission of bringing the arts and design to the center of community life and to create an ecosystem that supports fashion and design for sustainable change.
