The new single comes off the back of Yemi Alade’s streak of releases this year, notably ‘Fear Love’, ‘Fake Friends (Iró Òre)’, ‘Pounds & Dollars’, ‘Baddie’ and ‘Bright Future’. It also follows the successful completion of the African Baddie World Tour which made stops in 22 countries.
With Yemi Alade’s signature cross-cultural approach and Innoss’B’s distinctive blend of Congolese rumba, the outcome of ‘Lipeka’ is a catchy Afro-dance track infused with Lingala, French and Nigerian lingo.
According to the singer, the record heralds her seventh LP album set for release in the last quarter of 2023. “My upcoming album is a representation of my thoughts, needs, experiences, stories, ideas and my desire to connect with every listener on each song,” she said. “Every song is potent with stories.”
Yemi Alade’s discography includes King of Queens (2014), Mama Africa – The Diary of an African Woman (2016), Mama Afrique EP (2017), Black Magic & Deluxe Version (2017), Woman of Steel (2019), Empress (2020), Queendoncom (2021) and African Baddie (2022).
