Akola cops recover stolen booty from MP village

Akola: In a major action following increased in cases of thefts in the city, a crime branch team conducted a raid in Madhya Pradesh’s Rajgarh district and seized stolen valuables worth Rs5.91 lakh, but the notorious ‘Sosi gang‘ managed to escape.
Incidents of wallet and bag thefts near banks and wedding venues have increased in Akola in recent days. Vishal Panjwani, a resident of Dabki Road, had lost a bag containing Rs5 lakh in cash, a 10-gram gold chain, and other valuables. Similarly, Rajesh Savarkar from Akot lost a pouch filled with cash.
Police suspected involvement of the notorious ‘Sosi gang’, known for targeting crowded places. A special crime branch team camped for 12 days in Kadiya Sosi village of Rajgarh district to track the accused. During the operation, several hideouts were searched, but the culprits had already fled.
The operation was led by crime branch inspector Shankar Shelke, along with assistant police inspector Vijay Chavan, sub-inspector Gopal Jadhav, and officers Majid Pathan, Abdul Majid, Wasimuddin Sheikh, Ashok Sonone, Rahul Gaikwad, driver constable Prashant Kamalakar, and cyber branch personnel.
The police are now monitoring possible locations to track down and arrest the gang members.
