When Cardi B rapped, “But nothing in this world that I like more than checks,” she felt that. And now, thanks to her continued success in partnership with Fashion Nova, the “Money” rapper is still racking in monumental amounts of cash.
After launching her second collection with the fashion retailer earlier this week, the 26-year-old reportedly made over $1 million in sales within the first 24 hours of its launch. During the line’s launch party this week, Cardi brought out rapper Lil Nas X for a special performance of his viral song, “Old Town Road.”
Taking notes from Cardi’s first collection with the company, which sold out nearly instantly upon its launch in Nov. 2018, Fashion Nova decided to stock nearly five times the amount of inventory as it did the first time around in order to better meet customer demand. While the anticipatory move means more fans were able to get their hands on the rapper’s designs than last time, the second collection is already well on it’s way to nearly selling out entirely.
“This time around, the clothes are going to be a little more sexy. You’re going to see a lot of skin. A lot of cleavage,” Cardi shared with Elle ahead of the launch. “But yet it’s so pretty and so elegant. I made sure it was sexy but also beautiful.”
Earlier this month, the Bronx native sat down with Entertainment Tonight to discuss her recent endeavors. During the conversation, the host asked if she had any plans to launch her own beauty line, stemming from her success collaborating in the fashion space. The rapper, not revealing too many details, noted that her own cosmetics line is coming “very soon.”
In addition to her collaboration with Fashion Nova, Cardi has also designed a line for Steve Madden in the past, making her interest in cosmetics an organic next step.
While beginning to dip her talents into other endeavors outside of music and reality television, Cardi has also recently signed on as part of the Hustlers cast alongside Jennifer Lopez, Lizzo, Constance Wu and more.
