Good American Collabs with Gabriella Karefa-Johnson–Shop the Collection Now!

Gabriella Karefa-Johnson—the stylist and Vogue Global Contributing Fashion Editor-at-Large–has become incredibly well-known for her indelible personal style. It’s intrinsically casual, but colorful, experimental, and maximalist all at once; exactly the kind of essence that conveys individuality. And that’s exactly what drew Emma Grede, co-founder of the denim company Good American, to her for the brand’s next collaboration.

“She infuses her authenticity and personality into her own unique styling POV,” says Grede. “We love how her style is all about joy and energy, and being who you are without any boundaries or limitations, which we know really inspires our customers. She exemplifies what we hope our Good American customer feels when they wear our clothes—that ethereal power and confidence to be yourself.”

Dubbed the Good Uniform collection, the collaboration consists of the staple pieces Karefa-Johnson loves, including bottoms, shirting, layering pieces, outerwear, and cozy sweats, presented in Good American’s always inclusive size range of XXS to 5X, or 00 to 32 plus. There’s the cooly oversized and understated Denim Trench Coat, for instance. “It gives the illusion of an entire outfit with just one piece,” says Grede. “You could be wearing joggers or tights and still feel effortlessly put together.” And the Oversized Denim Blazer, the kind of core styling piece that lends itself to being thrown over anything and everything. Karefa-Johnson styled it as a mini dress for the collection’s campaign. “The oversized fit allows for such versatility in styling,” adds Grede. “Pair it with heels and a belt for a dressed-up look, or throw it over a hoodie to layer something more casual. Denim is at the heart of Good American.” Many of the pieces combine wardrobe staples in a stroke of genius kind of way: the denim blazer brings together the casual denim jacket with the typical business-ready workwear blazer, for instance. “I love that each person can individually curate the pieces to build their core looks that feel chic, empowering, and sexy,” says Grede.

Other pieces, such as the Faux Leather Maxi Skirt and Faux Leather Trench Coat, represent the kind of easy pieces anyone can add to their wardrobes to dress up their outfit. There are also a few surprises that feel intrinsically linked to Karefa-Johnson’s unique, joyful aesthetic too. Like the ‘90s Pleated Stretch Trousers, Stirrup Leggings, ’90s style faux leather trousers, and a cropped button-down shirt in poplin. These are the items that feel a bit more editorially leaning (Karefa-Johnson describes her own wardrobe as “chaotic, eclectic, confident”) while a Denim Maxi Skirt and Wide Leg Trousers will surely appeal to the fashionable masses.

“From the very beginning, our goal at Good American has been crystal clear: to redefine fashion for women of all shapes and sizes, and to empower them to feel confident,” says Grede. “When we contemplated collaborating on this campaign, one name immediately stood out: Gabriella. She’s not just a standout woman of our times, but also a trailblazer who has consistently championed the cause of diversity and representation in the world of fashion. Our shared values made the decision to work together an absolute no-brainer.”

The collection is just one way to replicate the look of the influential stylist who also happens to be one of fashion’s most photographed street style stars.
