Following legal action from Fendi, Dan’s business was shut down in 1992, just as groups like Salt-N-Pepa were getting massive mainstream recognition. In recent years, Dap has belatedly been given his due as the original hip-hop tailor, partnering with the Gap, Puma and even, in a storybook twist, Gucci.
