H&M selling ‘identical’ version of £2k Gucci bag for fraction of price
For those who enjoy the look of luxury designer handbags, particularly those by Gucci, fashion retailer H&M has almost-identical alternative for you. As stunning as Gucci’s timeless and classic Jackie 1961 Small Leather Shoulder Bag is, its £2,220 price tag leaves much to be desired for many.
However, H&M has released a version that makes for a perfect alternative and is only a fraction of the cost. Its black Shoulder Bag offering for £27.99 looks incredibly similar in design and details.
The high-street fashion retailer’s version features a similar shape to the Gucci bag, along with a short shoulder strap with an adjustable buckle. Both also feature a gold clasp fastening on the front, though they differ ever so slightly in design.
However, the Gucci version comes in a matte black calfskin leather. While H&M’s is made of patent faux leather, helping to keep the price tag on the more affordable side of things, as reported by OK!.
The fashion brand’s cheaper alternative also boasts of an open inner compartment, ideal for keeping your valuables safe in one place. Although Gucci’s bag is available in three different colours – including black, green and white, H&M’s only comes in black.
A description of Gucci’s Jackie handbag reads: “Gucci’s small ‘Jackie’ bag takes its curved silhouette from the original style that debuted in the ’60s and even boasts the same gold-tone piston clasp. Crafted in Italy from smooth leather that’ll grow its own unique patina over time, it’s suspended on a thick strap that can be adjusted to your perfect drop. It has plenty of space inside for everyday essentials.”
If you’re particularly fond of Gucci’s elongated gold clasp details, Charles & Keith’s Cesia Metallic Accent Shoulder Bag,£89 here, also has a very similar look to the luxury version, complete with faux matte black leather finish and a clasp that closely resembles the iconic horse bit design.
You can shop the H&M’s Shoulder Bag,£27.99 here, both online or in-store now. Another high-street retailer selling an almost-identical version of a luxury designer item is Marks and Spencer.
