Honey lips are a sweet treat for your makeup routine—here’s how to achieve the syrupy look

Just when we thought our obsession with all things glossy had reached its peak (what with lip gloss nails and all), TikTok’s latest ‘honey lips’ trend has us trying to harness the gooey, golden goodness of the nectar itself.

We likely have the beauty world’s recent love affair with lip oils—specifically Gisou’s viral honey lip oil—to thank for this shimmering, syrupy look and while we’re also loving a more statement bare skin with a red lip vibe, we can definitely see this trend catching on.

So, in case it’s already crossed your For You Page, here’s how to rock the look IRL and our recommendations of the best products to use…

What are honey lips on TikTok?

So, what does a honey lip look really entail? Thankfully it’s pretty straightforward but so cute.

Seemingly coined by TikToker @evalarosaxo—whose video has now accumulated over 10k likes—the trend sees you add a dab of gold highlighter to your cupid’s bow and the center of your bottom lip, before adding a bit of pinky/red lip liner, topping it with a gloss. The effect is super shimmery, which is both eye-catching and surprisingly wearable.

Eva paired this honey vibe with a matching gold eye look but it would also perfectly compliment the bronzy, ‘Latte’ makeup trend, or add a pop of radiance to a natural beauty look.

We’ve also spotted users recreating a ‘hot honey’ lip look, which features a combo of reddish lip color and gloss—forging the golden shimmer. This is giving us ‘Red Wine’ makeup vibes and is perfect for an evening or chic office look.

How to do TikTok’s ‘honey lips’ trend

So, how do we go about recreating this glossy look? Well, all you need is a warm nude lip liner—or more of a red/maroon liner, whatever your preference—a gold highlighter and a gloss or lip oil.

Start with dabbing on your gold glitter with your finger, over your cupid’s bow and the center of your bottom lip, before lining your lips with your liner and topping with a gloss, tinted or clear. We’d recommend a yellowish lip oil, like Gisou’s or Clarins (both are viral faves on TikTok) to really accomplish that honey aesthetic.

For the hot honey variation, instead, opt for a red liner or red gloss and again, add just a touch of gold shimmer to the center of your lips.
